What happens if I lose my sync key?
If another device still syncs, nothing is lost. Open Settings → Sync → Add another device on that device to see the key again.
If you’ve lost the key and every device that had it, the synced copy can’t be recovered, by you or by us. We never had the key. That’s the point of it, though it’s not much comfort right now.
If you think someone else has your key, use Settings → Sync → Replace sync key. The old key stops working.
Can I use this as birth control?
No. Predictions and the ovulation window are estimates based on the cycles you’ve logged, and cycles vary. Boring Period Tracker isn’t a medical device and isn’t designed to prevent pregnancy. If you need contraception, a doctor, nurse or pharmacist can help you choose a method that is.
How do I import my history from Apple Health or Health Connect?
Go to Settings → Data → Import from Apple Health (on iPhone) or Import from Health Connect (on Android). The app asks for permission to read, shows you what it found, and imports it when you confirm. Days you’ve already logged in the app are left as they are.
Health Connect needs Android 9 or later. On Android 9 to 13 you may need to install Health Connect from Google Play first.
Importing from Clue, Flo and CSV files is planned.
How do I delete my data?
- On your phone: Settings → Data → Delete all data. This removes everything on that phone. If sync is on, it deletes the synced copy from the server first.
- On the sync server only: Settings → Sync → Delete synced data. Your phones keep their data and stop syncing.
- To stop one phone syncing: Settings → Sync → Turn off sync on this device. Its data stays on it.
Why don’t you send notifications?
You already know when your period starts. The app never asks for permission to send notifications, so it can’t send one, even by accident.
